Introducing What we are...

YangD is a network management solution which can reside on any managed element, and provides configuration management for that device. YangD supports standardized interfaces including CLI, NETCONF, WebUI and SNMP. The architecture choosen is dynamic enough to plug-and-play modules and interfaces. It has an in-buit framework to interface easily with exiting on-device management solutions, and has a comprehensive list of south bound API's and auto generated callbacks to communicate with underlying TCP/IP stacks.

YangD is fully complaint to Netconf and YANG RFCs with no exception. Memory footprint, Processing efficeny and Scalability of YangD will set new BenckMark in the market of On-device network management solutions

FootPrint Memory, Performance, Scalability...

Ever-growing communication networks demand efficient and effective means of performing many network management functions. Configuring complex networks and multiple vendor equipments need standardized protocols including Netconf.

YangD solution meets current and future needs with efficient and scalable configuration management functions. Quantitative measurements show that NETCONF is more efficient in terms of bandwidth utilization, packet counts, transaction counts and operation time, than its peer network configuration management protocols. YangD is built around the NETCONF protocol and YANG data modeling language, facilitates configuration management for complex networks.

Performance:

  • Get-conf3%

  • Edit-conf 100%

  • Copy-conf 3%

  • Delete 100%

  • Memory 3%

  • CPU 40%

Evolution:

Netconf and YANG in SDN space

Open Standards are very essential in Software Defined Networking, Having a standardized protocol for network device configuration and Having a standard set of YANG models adds value in SDN world

Strengths of YANG

Standardized YANG models will help managing true Multi-vendor networks. Open-source controller projects like OpenDaylight have adopted YANG as their primary modeling language. The object-oriented nature of YANG is an additional value in defining models

Quick turn around for YANG models

More and More YANG models were being defined in the open-source community and being standardized in IETF. YANG is being adopted as a default data modeling language for newer management protocols like RESTCONF

Details:

YangD has shown High scalability for effective handling of n number of concurrent user sessions across all northbound interfaces. YangD has a robust architecture to provide Optimized multi-processing with seamless scalability

YangD Performance is measured for every single management operation made towards a device hosting YangD application through the published interfaces like NETCONF, CLI, SNMP, WebUI starting from establishing a connection, until the time it takes to complete the management operation in terms of MO's/sec

YangD Memory usage is measured for every single management operation, different operations show different memory usage graphs ranging from moderate to Low memory footprint for large to small transactions respectively

A configuration datastore is the complete set of configuration information that is required to get a device from its initial default state into a desired operational state. The configuration datastore represents the currently active configuration of a device and is always present. The configuration datastore represents the configuration that will be used during the next startup. The configuration datastore represents a configuration that may become a configuration through an explicit commit

Configuration Datastores

Security is provided by the transport layer, Operations focus on primitives to manage configurations, The set of operations is designed to be extensible
